Seton Hall Pirates point guard Anthony Nelson announced his transfer today due to lack of playing time. This wasn’t a surprise after former Harvard graduate transfer point guard Bryce Aiken announced he’s committing to the Hall a few weeks ago. Nelson was never able to get consistent minutes and played only 12.5 minutes this year after 10.5 minutes in his freshman year. He scored 2.7 points per game this year and 2.3 assists, but he shot just 27 % from three-point range. Nelson was expected to make a key impact  for years to come as a member of the 2018 recruiting class, but it never materialized.

Nelson has upside and good size and athleticism to be a point guard at another school. Whether it’s another Big East school or a smaller program like a mid major, he will hopefully make an impact elsewhere.  Nelson has two years of eligibility left once he is declared eligible possibly as soon as this coming year depending on how the new transfer rules are voted on in May.
